10 Things if we invent a teleporter

Technology is wonderful,  It makes hard things easy and impossible things commonplace.  At this point we have cellphones that can take pictures at a greater resolution than the human eye can see.  We have cars that can drive themselves and people are launching drones that fly around and see the world for us.  Everything we have is fine, but it depends on us going places and doing things.  Well, eventually technology may figure out how to make a genuine teleportation device.  Once that happens we have trouble.  BIG trouble.

- Privacy?  WHAT PRIVACY? - You think you've got troubles with privacy now, imagine if people can teleport wherever they like?  Teleportation would mean that your mother could pop in any time night or day.  In fact people would be able to come and go anywhere at any time.  So your home is your castle?  Not any more.  There would be no such thing as guarding a building or keeping people from it.  If it exists.  people are teleporting there.

- Government just got a LOT bigger - With teleportation just imagine what the government could do.  Police could now actually be everywhere in an instant.  yay.  Of course they will be constrained by something like 'displacement enforcement act of 2035'  Where people that had very little understanding of the technology made rules defining behavior within the technology to the benefit of large corporations and the detriment of the regular people.  We will decide that it can only be used by government and along with that we will need huge cadre's of people to enforce the new governments attempts at making our lives livable.  Also if we get teleportation, we won't really have any use for sovereign nations anymore.  Everyone will be able to go anywhere.  There will be one world government.  The problem is, who is running it?

-
Goodbye Travel - Obviously the entire travel industry is upended.  Cars, Trains, Boats, Planes, they are all out of business.  The strange thing is the first things to go will be the trucks, tankers, and trains because they mostly ship cargo.  Cargo isn't alive so it won't be a risk, but once people are comfortable with teleporting goods wherever it needs to go, then people wont be far behind.  Then the travel industry as we know it will be dead.  That's a lot of jobs gone.  Buses and cars of course will still be there, but in a different capacity.  We will still want these devices so we can drive the countryside and see the sights or go on tours of historic areas.

- Immortality...maybe - Depending on how the teleportation is effected, we will immediately have the ability to become immortal.  This is based on us using some kind of transmission of the pattern of physical matter.  Like StarTrek.  If we are using a computer to store your body's pattern and then re-create it at the destination, then every time we teleport, a computer will have a 'backup' of our bodies.  If we get off of the transporter and die because we didn't watch our step on that cliff, we can simply re-materialize our bodies from the point that we left the origination point.  We will know that we died because the time will be different and if you wanted to think about it enough, you would know exactly when you died.  Instead your friends/family will stop by the teleporter to re constitute you.  The real problem there is if you are re-materializing somewhere else, what do we do with the original version of you that we just copied to send there?  We have to disintegrate you.  So you are kind of immortal, and yet you are getting killed regularly.  My problem would be how can I know if my consciousness will move with my newly materialized body?  What if my new body gets created but it's not really me?  I know,  deep thoughts.

- Home Sweet Home - One of the great problems with travel anywhere is not only how much time and money it takes to get there, but where you sleep once you are there.  Well worry no more.  Now you can visit the Grand Canyon for a lunch outing.  Stand on the edge of the precipice and look down at the canyon then zip back home for the rest of your day.  Travel anywhere will be based from your own home.

- Disneyland just raised their prices - If you have no travel barrier to anything, you now have reduced a large barrier to visiting any place on earth.  Well that includes the happiest place on earth.  Disneyland will of course have some kind of transporter blocking technology that will allow them to charge money to visit.  but since you don't have the cost of travel or even lodging (you just teleport back home and sleep in your own bed at night), Disneyland will raise their prices quite a bit because part of the price is based on limiting how many people will be in the park on any given day.  Well if the world can suddenly show up to the Magic Kingdom, you can bet Mickey will raise the prices.

- Being a person just changed - Once we have transporters, we will no longer have any need for potty training.  The next time we transport somewhere our waste is not transported with us, and we are scanned for all known diseases and troubles.  We will have forgotten what it's like to have bowel control and we will be constantly scanned for waste that is discreetly removed from us.  Houses will no longer have bathrooms.  Gas will still be a problem, but after a few generations we won't know why we have it, but it will still be funny.

- Space Travel - Local travel has changed, but long term space travel changes as well. The mechanics are of course different depending on what kind of technology we use, if it's transmitted travel, we just have to get probes out to places we want to visit that will be able to get our signal and then we pop over there.  If it's thrown teleportation where no actual receiver is necessary but we just show up in a place we might be able to get to far away places without worrying about much more than where we materialize.  Kind of like hyperspace I guess.

- Everybody gets everything - Well I discussed before that we can move anything anywhere.  That's great.  Once again, if we are using the atoms around us to recreate matter that was transmitted from somewhere else, what's to stop us from just making copies of things we want?  Nothing.  At that point there will be NO scarcity and no need.  The more interesting thing happens with things like cooking.  Lets say that you have found the best Doughnut in the world.  You scan it for transport before you try it and after eating it you find it's the best one you have ever tasted.  You want your brother across the world to get a taste of this doughnut, so you beam it over to him.  Now that there is a pattern of a hot doughnut, it's immediately available to everyone in the world that would like to teleport your doughnut to them.  They just pick it and eat the doughnut.  then they rate it.  A year later, nobody is making any new donuts and the top 5 donuts as rated by the world are the only ones being copied.  All recipes for all food will find their superlatives in teleportation.  We will only ever have the best of all hot foot and it will never need to be cooked because the heat gets teleported too.  Of course people will always want to tinker with the recipes adding a dash of this and a shot of that, but they will be able to do that virtually and just print the result to try it.  All the restaurants will close and we will all be eating the exact SAME package of Oreos.  Oh yeah, packaging goes away too, since that's made for shipping and advertising since everything would be free at that point not much point in advertising more than word of mouth and we've already discussed shipping.  You won't save any leftovers for later either because what's the point?  You'll just dump it and get fresh food whenever you like it.  Since you need molecules to create new things from our teleporters all of our waste material will suddenly have new use.  Our landfills will be empty because we are using the garbage molecules to make new stuff.

- Teleport Trolls -  When the internet came into being we thought it would be the ultimate in information sharing for the betterment of mankind.  We would all join hands and sing Kum by yah and watch as the world emerges from it's cold war chrysalis and forms into a new free butterfly.  Then we saw the Internet trolls come and rip the wings off of that butterfly.  They just like causing trouble online with unwelcome comments and stupid fights. Not because it benefits them but because it messes things up and they like that.  Well add teleporters to the mix and I think we can see what happens next.  Most downsides to everything involve people.

There it is,  I hope you liked it.  Thanks for reading.  See ya later.

10 Elements to Better Governance

Government.  Those of you that know me know that I fall under the category of mostly libertarian.  What does that mean?  It means that I'm not a fan of strong federal government and a big fan of individual rights and responsibility.  Now this is all fine and well.  I don't do much with my political beliefs, in fact about all I do is vote.  So I started to think.  What would make government better and better serve the people?  Well...

10. Who doesn't like to party?! - The 2 party system (You know, the Red Republicans and the Blue Democrats) seems to be really counter productive.  Every 4 years, the nation engages in the world's largest team sport called the national election.  You get 2 teams, we'll call them parties.  Each party then proceeds to play a game of miniscule examination of candidates. This game is silly because we have to assume that any individual is going to be human and therefore always susceptible to bad press.  At the same time, the citizenry plays an equally silly game where they point at the faults and even more laughable, sit and claim that they are 'undecided'  right up to the last minute.  In the end, after all the votes have been counted and new leadership has been installed the same things happen in government.  Excuses for what promises won't be fulfilled, and more money spent in an effort to expand government oversight into everything.  Many other countries have multiple parties that run for election.  What this gives them is a more diverse selection of political philosophies instead of 2 philosophies that have become so intermingled in practice that it doesn't really matter who you vote for.  What it takes away is a clear majority.  Usually an election with many parties ends with a plurality instead of a clear majority.  At this point, that's a price I'm willing to pay.

9. Easy Information - I've always said that the weight of communication is 80% on the side of the person that wants to convey an idea.  It's not only important to have the forum for communication, but to also have the expertise to use that communication.  That being said, the other 20% is every bit as important.  The receivers of that information need to be able to listen and understand the information.  The difference between the sender and the receiver of a given message has been increased by a few things.  First, those that communicate have changed the nature of the communication from one of earnest ideas to that of semi-honest sound bites.  Human nature is such that these small sound bites are easier to digest and therefore have a greater impact.  Unfortunately this poisons most that listen because that is all they will hear.  All of the truth of a candidate could be exposed in a non biased form on the internet and yet most people will not even try to look much less overcome their own bias in order to see who they actually agree with the most.  While this is very important unfortunately I find that there is no good answer.  This is a case of trying to force the horse to drink.

8. Independent Currency - Currently, every currency is dictated by it's country of origin.  The exception to this is the Euro which is a currency based on several governments that all agree in principal to the economic direction and trade agreements of the group.  I have mentioned Bitcoin in the past and I believe that it is an important example of how future currency should be executed.  The important part of independent currency is that government can not simply print more money when they want to spend more.  Governments in charge of their own currency that decide to print more, devalue the money in citizen's savings as well as build a culture of financial irresponsibility.  This is a much more complicated question than what I have presented, but I would like you to read the rest of this blog so I will stop here.  I discuss Bitcoin more in a separate blog post.

7. Single Timezone Voting - We have idiotic rules about each state trying to be the FIRST state to vote and when they will vote.  This was probably important when communication was largely transmitted by birds and horses.  Now we have the power to execute all votes at the same time.  Lets just allow the vote to occur for the same time frame across the country and end at the same time UTC.  I understand that in some places that will be really late and in other places that will be really early, but that's ok because it won't allow the NEWS to start reporting returns until EVERYONE is done voting.  Poor Hawaii...poor poor Hawaii.

6. Automatic legal sundown - This is more about the laws that govern our land.  It seems we make more and more and depend on the legacy of those judicial decisions to determine the legal standing of a current ruling.  This is all fine and well, except technology in many cases has outstripped our legal systems ability to keep up with the rulings.  Lawyers make a lot of money in researching ancient legal precedent to continue our legal system.  If we determine that laws must have an automatic expiration date, we would force legislators to both  keep an idea of what laws are still worthwhile and what laws are better left dead.  Laws that are allowed to exist unchecked give us eventual legal mutations that are hard to comprehend.

5. Vote alteration -  Allow the electorate to change their mind over time.  This will require internet voting.  NO! you say.  The Internet is too insecure!  There is too much potential for voter fraud!  This is an OUTRAGE!.  To this I say, poppycock and falderal.   The voting system should be engineered through an open source project that will allow for public oversight.  Then voting can be executed any time during the year that campaigning is allowed.  The question of voting booths are as simple as internet access, and votes can be changed right up to the deadline outlined in number 7.  Those of you that think the internet is too insecure and too easily hacked have been watching too much CSI.  If the internet is SO horrible at security, why do we trust our financial commerce with it?  What about regular voter fraud?  You know, like where dead people vote?  Allowing us to change our vote over time allows us to vote ahead of time and not worry about losing out.  We save money on the whole absentee voter nonsense.  We have a chance to think about what we are voting for and pay attention to our second thoughts.

4. Powerful Local Government - This is more about moving the overbearing power of the Fed back to the states.  Yes yes, Shay's rebellion and all that are important, I'm not saying that we remove federal power all together.  But I AM saying that federal power has LONG overstepped it's bounds.  The more powerful local government is, the more each states decisions tend to stand out.  If you live in a state you don't agree with, you could move to one that does things a different way.  At this point every state more or less tastes the same and there is very little diversity in governance.

3. Complete Transparency - All of this talk about spying on the US citizens is running in the wrong direction. Individual citizens don't have much power as it is.  Being afraid of citizens seems to be the characteristic of an entity that realizes that it has too much power and is afraid that it will lose it.  Since we talk about the powers that the NSA/CIA/FBI has, lets bring those powers to bear on our elected officials.  Every elected official would agree to give up ALL privacy.  Everything they say and do is available for scrutiny by the public.  We certainly have the means to look at all of their emails and cell phone transmissions.  All elected officials would be required to carry two enabled smart phones and every conversation they have should be recorded.  This would solve the problem of PACs as well as bad corporate influence.  I suspect that once you do this, you eliminate the need for term limits because everyone would agree that if a politician is doing what the public wants and still wants to serve...let em!

2. 16th Amendment needs to go - The ability for a government to take your money and force you to work on their behalf is not patriotic, it's slavery.  The IRS has already been seen to be at least a little corrupt in practice if not in concept.  The latest revelations not withstanding the IRS has been a sharp toothed Pit Bull on the leash of government for a long time.  This corruption goes back to Nixon and likely beyond.  Really, the TSA and the HSA could also take a hike as they are VERY expensive for what we are getting.

1.  No Electoral College - What in the WORLD is this here for?  Like time zones for the vote this was a good idea when you couldn't really count all the votes up and get everything together.  The electoral college gives disproportionate power to states with low populations.  This allows the President to be elected based on the state instead of popular consensus.  This is probably wrong these days.  If we put into place my other ideas, the Electoral College is an anachronism and needs to be buried.

If the IRS/CIA/NSA/FBI/HSA stops me from publishing this blog and I become mysteriously missing...Tell my story.

10 little pieces of evidence that the Government is about to tell us about Aliens

This sounds far fetched I know, but I'm bored and thoughts of extra terrestrial life amuses me.  Here is my hypothesis:

If we look at a technological time line of our advancements as the human race, there are a few things that really don't fit very well.  It seems that we went for thousands of years with precious little advances in the sciences beyond say the wheel and then written language and then BANG!  Within about 120 years or so we have surpassed our forefathers to the point that if we told them about our current lives, they would ask when heaven dropped on the earth (or at least the civilized earth, I realize there are a lot of sections of the earth that are still outdated and living near dark age lives).  How did we come across this broad spectrum of technology?  Human spirit?  Taxes?  Governments?  Or is it aliens?  If it was aliens and they were getting ready to kill us, we would have known about them by now.  If it's friendly aliens here to help us, then I think the Government waits until the people won't cause a fuss with the knowledge.  I think that's the answer and here are my reasons why.

10.  UFO Stories and their denial - Crazy people say lots of crazy things.  It's what sets them apart from the rest of the semi-sane world.  Normally when you hear a crazy person say something crazy, you just ignore it, or at best you put on your best 'dumb animal' look and nod and say 'yes of course!, what an interesting story.   I hope it all works out'  At which point the crazy person will either move on to another crazy subject, or attack you.  UFO stories for a long time were denied.  When the Government denies things it seems like most of the time they are just covering up.  Now the Government is much more cagey and just doesn't acknowledge anything.

9.  There's a pill for EVERYTHING! - Chemistry and Physics are two interesting disciplines.  One deals with the molecular structure of things and the other deals with objects interactions with each other.  Yes this is simplified and yes it's not complete, but pull it down to it's elements and that's what they are.  So we used to go around tasting roots for medicinal purposes and grinding up tree bark and putting it on wounds.  Doctors were no more than local con-men that promised some kind of cure in exchange for a horse or perhaps a summers worth of eggs if they managed to be there when a life was saved.  Now, we have real drugs that do nearly everything.  The only reason we don't have a lot more drugs around is because companies are too busy trying to find out ways to lengthen the treatment so their profit margins can billow.  But where did all of this information come from?  Tree bark?  Dowsing rods?  hmmmm...I'll bet that someone that has the technology to travel across space would have a pretty good grasp of chemistry as well as physics....hmmmm.

8.  We didn't make all these TV programs for nothing! - People wonder why aliens would be interested in us at all.  The truth is, we have good TV.  At least we do in America and to some extent other countries around the world.  We have been beaming the transmission of these programs into space for DECADES.  Aliens are coming because they saw Battlestar Galactica and thought we are probably ready and they wanted to help us with those pesky Cylons.  They really weren't sure what to think about Space Balls.

 7.  When you see a science fiction show with an alien in it, how favorable is your reponse? - At first all shows depicting aliens were the same.  Aliens were here to take over, probably kill most of us in the process.  Then we started getting shows about friendly aliens.  Heck, even the Aliens that were controlling Robo-Bigfoot in the Shark-Jumping episodes of The 6-million Dollar Man were just mis-understood.  Now, aliens are just like us.  They have many human qualities and there are good ones and bad ones, just like us.  It's pretty consistent with our species.  You might say 'yes, but Mark, there are still shows about aliens taking over and rubbing us humans out'  Sure there are.  This is used to gauge our response to the original "bad, they are ll the same" alien over time. Through constant exposure, we can become used to just about anything that we originally thought was horrible.

6.  These cellphones are just like Star Trek...wait a minute! -  You have got to be joking.  The moment Cell-phones started looking like Star Trek Communicators (except MUCH smaller and more effective) I thought we were going to be introduced to our Alien benefactors.  It just seemed like it was too obvious.

5.  So we can see a license plate on a car from space?  Interesting... - So our Satellites can read a license plate on a car from outer space and yet the DMV still has trouble capturing you looking like anything but how you look early in the morning.  Where is the disconnect here?  Aliens gave up the notion of displaced identification a long time ago.  Pictures are used only to capture past events, not as a means of evidence.  Their technology on that path on the other hand is pretty useful on our satellites.  They're waiting for us to figure out that just because you can track a population, doesn't mean you can control it.

4.  The United Nations is anything but. - Ever notice how the United Nations really doesn't have much to do with anything practical?  They have lots of committees and throw around condemnations like they are going out of style, but this body has precious few teeth.  Why hang around as one body and try to homogenize the earth?  Because if we can get everyone to settle down, then we can introduce the aliens, but they don't want to talk to a bunch of little countries, they would much rather talk to a leader.  So the conspiracy theorists that go on about a 'New World Order' are pretty much right.

3. How can computing power double every year?  How is that even possible? -  Moores law states that computing power will double every year.  What kind of moron would make a 'law' like that?!  That's hardly sustainable, UNLESS you knew the distance between the first computer technology and the eventual resulting technology.  If you are controlling how quickly information and technology is being doled out, it's EASY to determine how fast the technology will grow.  Where will it end?  when specific computing power will not be measurable because everyone will be connected and share overall computing power and then we won't care about Moores law.

2.  Festivus is actually an alien holiday and they are just using Seinfeld reruns to throw up a trail balloon. - Festivus isn't the only one, there are LOADS of made up holidays that don't make a lot of sense.  I won't tire you with them all, but the fact is, when Aliens live among us, their holidays will be based on their calendar so who knows, maybe they will celebrate birthdays 3 times a year, or maybe once every 20 years.  Hard to say.  How do you test that out?  You introduce some goofy holidays and see if it sticks.  Festivus was made up and unashamedly so.  Still there are followers of the Festivus 'faith'.  We as a people appear to be pretty open to new holidays.  But it's just another weight on the alien side of the scales.

1.  No space travel outside our inner orbit since the moon landing.  hmmmmm - We go to the moon, we plant a stiff looking flag, we come back and bang.  It's like the hot looking girl in high school with no personality.  Once you've gone out with her, you figure there's really nothing there, so you don't go back.  Seriously?!  Either we never made it there in the first place (Capricorn One anyone?)  Or we did and were WARNED not to disturb the blind.  The aliens are using the moon as an observation point.  That's why we and everyone else are discouraged from going there at all.

As you can see, the evidence is pretty convincing.  We've got aliens, and they are probably friendly, which is good news.  The bad news is, they would like to borrow a cup of sugar in the form of our rich mineral resources and naturally occurring chemical compounds, and come over for a barbecue.  They haven't been living among us, but maybe they would like to.  Just to see if we'd invite them over for a game of Canasta (which as chance would have it is played in exactly the same way on their planet and was the first piece of common ground in our negotiations with them).  Soon the Government will announce them to us, and then this blog will seem downright prophetic.

Top 10 elements of better society

so here we are, Tax time. When Government renews itself and there is just a hint of bureaucracy in the air. Certainly I'm no fan of taxes, in fact, the only people I know that are fans of taxes:

A. already have more than enough money or nowhere near enough
B. support whoever is currently in office

everyone else thinks taxes are for the birds. Yeah, sure, every government needs them, but isn't it also true that there is no existing government that has persisted. What would be the cause of this? There is only one answer. The government stopped serving it's people in one capacity or another. But lets look at this a little closer. How does a government stop serving it's people? In a government where officials are elected by democratic process it happens because the people that are content with government often occupy the middle of the political spectrum. When you occupy the middle, you are very likely to not bother voting because you are busy living life with family friends etc. This leaves the fringes of both sides of the political spectrum. The fascists and the communists. Of course those are extreme examples, but that's where they lean. These are the people that are active enough to vote in every election and therefore garner unprecedented attention from running politicians. The more politicians cater to the fringe elements to get votes, the more they alienate the middle. This is true on either side of the spectrum. Once they cater to the sides enough, the middle believes they are not being served and that's when revolutions occur. Other governments fall for the same reason. they cater to minorities instead of the majority and then the majority revolts.

According to history the disintegration of government service is eventual. This decay could be slow or quick, but it is inevitable.

So how do we stop this? what is the secret to a complete government? We have to look at government in the right light first. Always remember, the government should never be thought of as anything but other citizens. Not above or controlling, but rather organizing on our behalf.

I will now list my top 10 elements of a better society

10. Term Limits - Yes, I know we have term limits every time we have an election and we can vote the bums out. The problem is this, while they have been in office, they have had 2-4 years worth of being recognized by everyone around. The longer they are in, the better chance they have of becoming a household name. On top of that, people keep them in office because in Washington they have become very influential in their own right and so we don't want to vote in some newbie that has no power at all. Make it mandatory and then you solve that problem. Isn't it interesting that most politicians will not vote for term limits? hmmmmm...

9. No foreign lobbies in government - This really bugs me. Why in the world to we allow foreign countries access to our congressmen and senators? What possible reason could we have? Few if any other countries allow us the same courtesy because they feel like other countries might not have their countries best interests at heart. No kidding? If you look around online you'll be able to find out which foriegn lobby's have the most money floating around in our government sesspool. you'll be surprised. Or not.

8. No income taxes - I've heard this from a lot of people. 'You can't do that mark because it's already really unfair and that would just make the rich get richer'. News flash for ya. The rich will get rich no matter what you do with them because they are the people that have enough risk taking juevos to try to get there. Yes, I'm well aware that some people have inherited their money and it just isn't 'fair' boo hoo. I'm not rich, and yet I really have a problem with people that always want to see people that do well 'get theirs' it's a very ugly and selfish attitude. If you replace income taxes with use taxes, the government will make money based on how good a job it is doing in making international trade good for us. That's why they don't like it. they get less money for their little projects if they don't actually do some work helping us out. Sounds good to me.

7. Take care of the poor - In the same way you will always have the rich, you will always have the poor. It's another sad fact of life. Yes, I'm well aware that many of the poor are there because they simply don't have the capacity to earn enough to maintain themselves. We need to make it possible for the rest of us to take care of those poor. The further away from the actual poor you put this power, the less effective it is. Money in government is like a flashlight. The further away you are from what you are trying to light up, the less effective the light is. If you try to solve the problem of the poor with national mandates and national programs, you will not be nearly as effective as individual states who are not nearly as effective as individual cities and counties. Put the money closer to where the poor are and you will have a better chance of dealing with them. In fact, if charitible institutions were to actually take over the the caretaking of the poor, it would be infinitely better than government. Why? Because religion in general cares about people. Sure, they want to tell you what to do and everything, but doesn't government? Government doesn't care about people, government only cares about itself. So keep the care taking of the actual poor with the people that know how in places they know how to do it.

6. General education stops at High School and is run locally - This idea of consistent education throughout the country is nonsense. No child left behind...are you kidding? Once again. the problem is that in different areas things work differently for myriad reasons. Government should be a vehicle to assist parents in the education of their children not a method of babysitting to get kids out of parent's hair. Or even worse a method for indoctrinating the young to the ideas of the old. The idea of national standards is ridiculous and the argument of 'at least we are trying something' is just an admission of failure. Lets run our education as though we are preparing our children to life life on their own in stead of preparing them to live life at the feet of a paternal government due to bad education. After grade school, College should start out in specialized fields. General Education is a joke at best and a waste of money at worst. All it does is makes you better at Jeopardy!

5. Nacho's - any truly formed society will eventually develop good nachos with that radioactive yellow cheeze that drapes itself over the chips like a Greek God is draped in a toga. Just hot enough to be enjoyable and cheezy enough to make you forget how unhealthy it is. It won't matter because the rest of society is so good that they will more than make up for how bad Nacho's are for you.

4. Fair - All laws made by government are given to all people to enjoy regardless of race, gender, creed etc. All men are created equal they say. and I've heard it said that some people are more equal than others. But honestly, how can any government be considered great unless all the people are treated fairly under the law. This includes freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom to engage in commerce. You know, like that one document says that we all should be. Along with this we should remember that government is there to serve the people, not entities. I very much dislike that government gets itself into the business of promoting business. Business should be allowed to succeed or fail based on it's merits on a fair and even playing field. The only thing the government should do in the case of business is make sure there is always competition. Lets see...how has our government done with that...*sigh*

3. Hurt feelings can not be legislated - You know what I mean. People are offended. They are offended by this and by that and by anything that tickles their fancy. You could stand outside and give everyone free cupcakes and someone would be offended because they are the same color that their religion or culture deems to be the most insulting color that ever existed. Don't even get me started on the shape of the cupcake. Boo hoo. The only people that are complaining are the people that have enough time to complain. Yah Yah, they have a history of one thing or another. we all do in one way or another. But how long are we going to sit mired in the past worrying about all of the injustices done to us by nature, God, or nachos. There is no playing catchup with the past, and no amount of reparations will solve the pains of an unjust past. The only thing you can do is make things fair. see # 4 again.

2. Trade is free - we should make certain that our country only trades with countries that are willing to open their markets to our products and vice versa. Why don't we have this equal playing field? go back up and check number 9 again. We've allowed our government to become so corrupt through foreign lobby that they have sold our bargaining position in the world for their own security. If we do this we will be much better off and ultimately more competitive.

1. limited health care and insurance is illegal - Normally I'm against government doing anything that is not a constitutional right. Since health care is not in the constitution, it really isn't a right. After all, how many people has medicine cured? The answer, 0. There are a lot of people that medicine has postponed death for, but ultimately they all die. We have to be comfortable with this idea first before we continue on with health care. Once we are, we can look at the reason most people go into the emergency room and make free clinics for all to go to with most of those common maladies. These would be immunizations, strep, various broken bones and skin breaks that need stiches and various other ailments that would constitute 80% of what we know these are all conditions that are relatively simple to treat and do not need a lot of expertise. We require doctors to serve there for several years as a part of their overall education. Of course this works as long as there are lots of people that want to be doctors. this shouldn't be a problem for the forseeable future. Insurance should be made illegal because all it does is creates a drag on the overall healthcare system as well as makes very easy and simple procedures much more expensive than they are. 'But Mark! if we take insurance out, then I will have to pay for everything and I deserve good health care!'. Well, I'm sure you do, but the fact is, if we had food insurance, we would only be allowed to eat re-fried beans and salad and the bill would be 20 dollars but it's ok because we only have a 4 dollar co-pay. Take insurance out and make people responsible for their own health care again. shop around. allow competition back into the arena. Doctors used to make housecalls and were affordable. Now they are very expensive and yet paid less because HMO's and insurance have taken over all the money. Everyone else got ripped off.

I know I know, this wasn't a very amusing list, but I've been cheezed off since paying my taxes. I hate hearing about how my taxes are going to pay for Car companies and banks that are too big to fail, or better yet to pay for houses that people shouldn't have bought in the first place. Don't get me started, and there is no end in sight. BAH!
